Joyce Lalor
Joyce Lalor, a graduate of the London College of Music, taught for many years at the Kingston Technical High School. At the time she was a well known singer on the Jamaican stage and radio. She had sung solo with the leading choirs in the nation’s capital and for many years had been a featured singer in the Little Theatre Movement pantomimes. Her wide-ranging-repertoire encompassed both Jamaican folksongs and European classics. When she joined the Company, Lalor made the challenging decision to concentrate on Caribbean traditional music, and at the same time she also embarked on a new career in education television.
